Q: Do I need a digital camera to take this course?

A: No! I will show some tips for using digital cameras, but it is not required to have one before taking the course.

Q: Do I need Photoshop or other photography editing programs to take this course?

A: I will show some of how I use Photoshop as part of my workflow in the demonstration, however, a Photoshop subscription is not required for this course.

Q: I already know how to use a camera. Will this course still be useful to me?

A: Yes! I will discuss a lot more than just basic photography.

Q: I am not tech-savvy. Can I still take this course?

A: Yes! I am not tech-savvy, either, and I am not a Photoshop or Procreate expert. I have learned to use these tools in a simple way that supports my creative process, even as a non-digital artist. I think you’ll find it helpful, too!

Q: I don’t need photography because I get all my photo reference off of Pinterest. Why should I change my current practice?

A: Learning to capture your own reference images will free you up to be much more creative in your artistic practice! Plus, you won’t have to worry about using someone else’s copyrighted work.

Q: I don’t like to work from photos because I get stuck copying! Can you help me with that?

A: Yes. This course is not just about photography, but how to make your photographs helpful in your creative practice. That means making them an artistic part of your process, not just something to mindlessly copy. This is a big topic of the course and I think you’ll find it helpful!
