Answer: This is a one-day workshop, approximately 3 hours long.

Question: I already have your Free Color Strings guide. Why should I take this workshop?

Answer: Thank you for downloading the free guide! Color strings are complicated, and you might not feel confident about mixing or using color strings with only the information provided in the PDF. I will flesh out the information and show you the process of using color strings in detail. I think you’ll get a lot out of it, and it will cut out some trial and error. 

Question: What mediums will be used in this workshop?

Answer: This technique works best with oil paints. 

Question: Is there a supply list?

Answer: Yes! There is a downloadable PDF of recommended materials and supplies will be available in the "Introduction" section of the course.

Question: Do I need to purchase everything on the supply list?

Answer: No! If you already have oil painting supplies, then please feel free to use what you already have.

Question: Color is intuitive and magical. It’s mysterious! You can’t possibly learn how to use color through a regimented system.

Answer: Color is definitely mysterious and magical. But that kind of thinking doesn’t help us to learn. Color has a lot of objective features that we can quantify and study. We should try to understand our subject with clarity in order to work with it better, not succumb to clichés about color. 

Question: You’re going to make my color too academic and boring! How can this possibly be useful?

Answer: Color strings are just a tool. They don’t have anything to do with being academic or boring (unless that’s how you want to paint!) It’s up to you to figure out what you want to do with the technique.
