In this two-day workshop, we will approach the rose as a subject for a portrait: by treating it with the same care, sensitivity, and attention we would give to painting a human face, the rose is elevated beyond a simple, decorative motif.

Together, we’ll create a delicate, intimate oil painting of a single rose, slowing down the process to observe subtle shifts in form, value, color, and edge. The focus of this workshop is the painting process itself: how to move thoughtfully from reference to finished work while maintaining clarity and emotional presence.

In addition to live painting demonstrations, students will learn about the whole working method, including:

  • Selecting photo reference

  • Planning the composition

  • Organizing a limited, harmonious color palette

  • Using both traditional and unconventional tools to achieve refined surfaces and expressive marks

Following the workshop, students are invited to an optional critique session, offering a supportive space to share work, receive individualized guidance, and gain direction for continuing or refining their painting.

This workshop is ideal for painters who want to slow down, deepen their process, and explore floral painting with intention.
